The Association’s Congresses are biannual and gather national and foreign researchers from several areas.

-From 1999 to 2001, Professor/Doctor Mario César Lugarinho and Professor/Doctor José Carlos Barcelos, both from Federal Fluminense University, carried out in Niterói (Rio de Janeiro), three annual scientific meetings with the theme “Literature and Homoerotism”. With this initiative, the Brazilian Association of Homocultural Studies was founded in 2001. The Niterói’s meetings gathered about 65 Brazilian and foreign doctors.

- Second Association’s Congress – “Image and Sexual Diversity”, UnB, 2004.

- Third Association’s Congress – “Speeches of sexual variety: places, knowledge and languages”, UFMG, 2006.

- Forth Association’s Congress – “Portrait of Homosexual Brazil”, USP, 2008..
